Terms of use

These are the terms for using Applause, made by Starling Labs. They are short on purpose.
What Applause is
A tool that helps you organise a job search and draft application documents from information you provide. It is a tool, not an agent: you review and send everything yourself, and you are responsible for what you send.
Your account
You need to be at least 16 and give us a working email. Keep your password to yourself. If you add your own Anthropic API key, you are responsible for that key and its usage under Anthropic’s terms.
Your content
What you put into Applause (your profile, notes, uploads) is yours. You give us permission to process it to run the service (including sending it to the AI and observability providers named in the privacy page), and nothing more. Drafts we generate for you are yours to use.
Only put in information you are entitled to share. Don’t use Applause to misrepresent yourself: the fact-check exists to help you stay accurate, and you agree not to use the product to fabricate credentials, employers, or results.
Following careers pages
You may follow pages you are allowed to read. We fetch public postings at a modest cadence and identify ourselves to the site. We refuse sites that forbid automated access, including LinkedIn, Indeed and Glassdoor.
Plans and payment
The free plan includes a monthly allowance of drafts and a limit on followed pages. Pro is a monthly subscription billed by Stripe; you can cancel any time from Settings and keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. Limits and prices are shown in the app and can change with notice.
What we don’t promise
Applause is provided as is. We work hard on accuracy, but AI drafts can be wrong and careers pages change without warning. We are not responsible for the outcome of your applications, and our liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the previous three months.
Ending things
You can delete your account whenever you like. We can suspend accounts that abuse the service or other people. If we ever shut Applause down, we will give you time to export your data first.

Plain language on purpose; not legal advice. Applause is provided by Starling Labs, a company registered in Brazil. These terms are governed by Brazilian law and disputes go to the courts of Brasília, DF, without taking away any consumer rights you have where you live.
