How to get your résumé past iCIMS

iCIMS is an applicant tracking system used by many large employers across industries.

Applying through iCIMS

  • Expect to create an account and answer several screening and eligibility questions.
  • Your résumé is parsed into fields. Review them before you submit.
  • Standard headings (Experience, Education, Skills) and simple formatting help the parser.

What works in every ATS

Use the posting’s words

Recruiters search inside the ATS by keyword. Where the posting says “stakeholder management” and you did it, say “stakeholder management”, not “worked with partners”.

Put key skills in two places

Once in a skills block near the top, and once in a bullet that proves it. That’s how both a filter and a human find it.

Match the title, honestly

Use the job title’s words in your headline if they fit your level. Never claim a level above yours.

State your years

“Product manager with 8+ years” in the summary is read literally by filters and recruiters alike.

Keep the layout plain

One column, standard headings, real text. No tables, text boxes, images or key details in headers and footers.

Send the right file

PDF or Word both work in modern systems. When a form accepts Word, it’s the safest choice for older ones.
