How to get your résumé past Lever
Lever is an applicant tracking system popular with startups and scale-ups. Its job pages usually live at jobs.lever.co.
Applying through Lever
- Most applications take a résumé, a few profile links and optional additional information.
- Some companies add custom questions. Treat them as part of the application, not an afterthought.
- Recruiters search and filter candidates by keyword, so match the posting’s wording where it’s true for you.
Applause can follow Lever careers pages for you: paste a company’s Lever careers page into Discover and we’ll check it, rank new postings against your profile, and tell you when a strong match appears.
What works in every ATS
Use the posting’s words
Recruiters search inside the ATS by keyword. Where the posting says “stakeholder management” and you did it, say “stakeholder management”, not “worked with partners”.
Put key skills in two places
Once in a skills block near the top, and once in a bullet that proves it. That’s how both a filter and a human find it.
Match the title, honestly
Use the job title’s words in your headline if they fit your level. Never claim a level above yours.
State your years
“Product manager with 8+ years” in the summary is read literally by filters and recruiters alike.
Keep the layout plain
One column, standard headings, real text. No tables, text boxes, images or key details in headers and footers.
Send the right file
PDF or Word both work in modern systems. When a form accepts Word, it’s the safest choice for older ones.
