How to get your résumé past Oracle Taleo
Taleo, now part of Oracle, is an older enterprise applicant tracking system still used by many large organizations.
Applying through Oracle Taleo
- You usually create an account per employer, and applications can be long.
- Parsed fields often need fixing by hand. Keep a plain-text copy of your résumé ready to paste from.
- Avoid tables, columns, text boxes and headers or footers holding key details; older parsers can drop them.
What works in every ATS
Use the posting’s words
Recruiters search inside the ATS by keyword. Where the posting says “stakeholder management” and you did it, say “stakeholder management”, not “worked with partners”.
Put key skills in two places
Once in a skills block near the top, and once in a bullet that proves it. That’s how both a filter and a human find it.
Match the title, honestly
Use the job title’s words in your headline if they fit your level. Never claim a level above yours.
State your years
“Product manager with 8+ years” in the summary is read literally by filters and recruiters alike.
Keep the layout plain
One column, standard headings, real text. No tables, text boxes, images or key details in headers and footers.
Send the right file
PDF or Word both work in modern systems. When a form accepts Word, it’s the safest choice for older ones.
