How to get your résumé past Workday
Workday is an HR and recruiting suite used by many large enterprises. Each employer runs its own Workday careers site.
Applying through Workday
- You usually create an account for each employer’s Workday site before you can apply.
- After you upload a résumé, Workday pre-fills your work history. Check every field it filled, because parsing mistakes carry into what recruiters see.
- Keep job titles, company names and dates in a plain, consistent format so the pre-fill gets them right.
What works in every ATS
Use the posting’s words
Recruiters search inside the ATS by keyword. Where the posting says “stakeholder management” and you did it, say “stakeholder management”, not “worked with partners”.
Put key skills in two places
Once in a skills block near the top, and once in a bullet that proves it. That’s how both a filter and a human find it.
Match the title, honestly
Use the job title’s words in your headline if they fit your level. Never claim a level above yours.
State your years
“Product manager with 8+ years” in the summary is read literally by filters and recruiters alike.
Keep the layout plain
One column, standard headings, real text. No tables, text boxes, images or key details in headers and footers.
Send the right file
PDF or Word both work in modern systems. When a form accepts Word, it’s the safest choice for older ones.
